HUGE update that closed out the month! The v2.13 release is packed with new features and improvements designed to make images easier, and we’re confident you’ll love it.
For a quick overview of the release highlights, check out this video:
Seamless Migrations with Single File Upload Conversion
Version 2.13 makes it easier than ever to migrate an existing site over to Image Hopper. For some time you’ve been able to convert a Multi File Upload field to Image Hopper, ensuring that all your existing Confirmations, Notifications, feeds, and merge tags continue to function by keeping the field ID the same.
Previously, the same couldn’t be said for the Single File Upload field. Until now! Our development team has overcome the challenges presented by the Single File Upload field, and you can now swap it to Image Hopper with the press of a button. Too easy!
Revamped Entry Details Page
The Entry Details page has received a much-needed makeover! Images are now displayed in a neat, uniform grid, similar to how they are presented when first uploaded. Furthermore, the Post Image Hopper field now displays the image at full-size, rather than a tiny thumbnail. Our team found that this new format significantly simplifies the review and management of entries, especially when dealing with a large number of images.
Next-Gen Image Format Support: .AVIF
With the release of WordPress 6.5 at the beginning of April, support for the modern .avif image format landed. If you’re running WordPress 6.5, Image Hopper will now allow users to upload .avif files.
There are a couple of important caveats to be aware of:
- Multisite networks don’t support this format by default.
- Browsers cannot yet create native .avif files. If an .avif image is edited, downscaled, or cropped within the browser, it will output the image in a format it can create (usually .png).
Improved Gravity PDF Integration
Speaking of image formats, the Image Hopper / Gravity PDF integration has also seen improvements. Now, .avif and .webp images are displayed in your PDFs, provided your web server supports these formats.
GravityKit Advanced Filtering Support
Last but certainly not least, we’ve added GravityKit’s Advanced Filtering add-on to our family of supported third-party plugins. This means you can now filter GravityView entries/fields using Image Hopper as a conditional value.
Image Hopper 2.13 is a significant update, and this article only covers the highlights. We’ve also included various quality-of-life improvements related to security, licensing, and bug fixes. For a comprehensive list of all changes, you can refer to the full changelog below.
